I’m Sue Gillard and I have been involved in genealogy for over 25 years starting obviously with my own family tree which goes back to the 15th century in places. This has required spending hours in local archive centres around the country and embracing the ever increasing resources the internet provides. I am a member of the Society of Genealogists and have taken a number of their courses alongside Pharos courses.
I took an interest in genealogy from a young age carrying on the research started in the 1950’s from a first cousin once removed. I was always fascinated about where my ancestors came from and how they made their living. I have travelled to many of my ancestral roots around the UK and my research has led me to distant relatives around the globe.
My career as professional Project / Programme Manager means that I am adept at managing complex workloads and analysing lots of data. I have retired from that profession in recent years allowing me to become a full time professional genealogist providing family research for a number of clients for a range of reasons from searching for a particular ancestor, solving the mystery around family folklore up to and including the in depth trace of an ancestral line.
The discovery of new ancestors and learning about their lives still thrills me today – whether they are mine or somebody elses! The challenge of finding out about them is something I look forward to every day and I hope it is something I could do for you.
